Check Messages
Human Resources > Workforce Administration > Search > Employee > Payroll Data
Use this section to compose and manage messages that are printed on an employee's check. Messages may be used to notify an employee of important information related to the employee's personnel, payroll or benefit file.
The section defaults to the currently effective check message, showing the Effective Date of the message and the text of the message itself.
To compose a check message for the first time, click the New button, located on the left side of the section header. Fields for typing the message text and for selecting the effective and end dates of the message display directly below the section header.
Note: The effective and end dates correspond with the pay period dates.
To save the message, click the Save button, located on the left side of the section header.
After the first message has been added to the section, Edit, Create Event and Delete Event buttons display on the left side of the section header.
To compose a subsequent message, click the Create Event button. The Create Event pop-up opens, asking for the Effective Date of the new message. After selecting the date, click OK. The Effective Date, End Date and Check Message fields display directly below the section header, with the date entered on the pop-up defaulted as the Effective Date.All fields are enabled for entry.
You may set up a message with a future Effective Date.
To save the new message, click the Save button, located on the left side of the section header.
Note: If you want to view a report of check messages, navigate to Human Resources > Reports > Employee Reports > Employee Information Report, and from the Available Items multi-select list box, select Payroll Data - Check Message.
To edit a check message, click the Edit button, located on the left side of the section header. The effective and end dates of the message and the message text itself displays below the grid and is enabled for editing.
If you need to edit a message that has been set up with an earlier or later Effective Date than the one displayed, use the navigation control, located on the right side of the section header, until the message is displayed below the section header.
To delete a check message, use the navigation control, located on the right side of the section header, to display the appropriate message below the section header, and click the Delete Event button, located on the left side of the section header. A pop-up opens to ask for confirmation of the delete.
